Richard Briscoe, Ph.D.

Brief Biography
Dr. Briscoe conducts research, training, and dissemination activities particularly focused on 1) strengths, natural supports and faith-based approaches that improve the academic achievement of children within African-American communities, 2) culturally competent community -based research, and 3) developing intervention strategies to improve service delivery systems within African-American communities. Dr. Briscoe is a recognized spokesperson, has published articles and given national presentations in the areas of minority mental health, children's behavioral health, strengths-based approaches, and African-American families. He is also active on many community boards and agencies, is a recipient of the First Annual Kente Award, presented by the USF African-America Advisory Committee given to members of the community and to USF faculty and staff who have fostered improved relationships between the African-American community and the university.
