Brief Biography

Diane Powell, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor and Program Director in the Department of Child and Family Studies, Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute, University of South Florida. She has experience in service delivery in the fields of early childhood mental health and family support, serving as director of family services for a day treatment program and director of a federally-funded model demonstration inclusive preschool program. In addition, she has directed federally-funded projects focusing on support for young children affected by violence and parent involvement in education. Her research activities have included evaluations, needs assessments, and studies in the areas of school readiness, early childhood mental health systems, and violence in the lives of young children.
