Brief Biography
Carol MacKinnon-Lewis is a Professor and Director of Education and Training in Children's Mental Health in the Department of Child and Family Studies. She came to USF after having been a faculty member in Human Develpoment and Familty Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for 17 years, the Director of the Center for the Study of Social Issues at UNC-G for 5 years. She recieved her doctorate from the University of Georgia in Child Devlopment and Familty Relations.
Her areas of research and professional interest include work force development in children's mental health, and the contributions of children;s attributions and contextual factors on their aggressive behavior in the home and with peers at school. Her most recent research examines the impact of an intervention designed to address girls' relational aggression on changes in their behavior with their peers.
Funded by NSF, NIMH, NICHD, and the William T. Grant Foundation, her work has been published in a number of professional journals including Developmental Psychology, Child Development, Development and Psychopathology, Journal of Family Psychology, and Social Development.
