Brief Biography
Don Policella is the Principal Investigator and Director of Florida's Center for the Advancement of Child Welfare Practice. He was Principal Investigator and Project Director for the Technical Assistance/Partnership contract with Florida's Department of Children and Families since January 2003.
Prior to joining USF, Policella completed over 19 years of private and public service in human services, including:
Executive Director of a not-for-profit agency serving developmentally disabled individuals and families in New York;
supervision of Child Protective Investigations in St. Petersburg, Florida;
contract management for Child Welfare services in Florida, including Community-Based Care Lead Agencies and two Sheriff's jurisdictions providing Child Protective Investigations under contract with the State; and,
Regional Family Safety Program Administrator for Florida's SunCoast Region where he was responsible for program policy administration and quality assurance for child welfare services for six counties of west central Florida serving over 10,000 children and families.
