Brief Biography

Karen currently provides training and technical assistance to schools and school districts through Florida's Positive Behavior Support Project. She is also involved in a research project on School-wide Positive Behavior Support. Karen's work in the area of positive behavior support began in 1990 when she joined research on the effects of PBS strategies with children experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges in elementary school settings. She subsequently implemented PBS in her work as a teacher in a classroom for children with severe emotional disturbance. Karen also has experience supporting family involvement in their children's education through coordination of state-wide projects on family involvement which included pre-service and in-service training for teachers, evaluation of family involvement research, and development of materials and workshops for use by educators and family members.
