Brief Biography
Bruce Lubotsky Levin, Dr.P.H., M.P.H., FABHM, is Associate Professor in both the Department of Child & Family Studies at the de la Parte Institute and in the Department of Community & Family Health at the College of Public Health. He also serves as Head of the new "Graduate Studies in Behavioral Health Program," a collaborative graduate degree program at the University of South Florida de la Parte Institute & the University of South Florida College of Public Health. He also is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Health Services Research at The University of Texas School of Public Health at Houston. Dr. Levin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and his graduate degrees from The University of Texas. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship in psychiatric epidemiology in the Department of Psychiatry at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He also holds a certification in behavioral health management from the Association of Behavioral Healthcare Management. Dr. Levin currently serves as Editor of the "Journal of Behavioral Health Services & Research," a quarterly, scholarly journal that publishes articles on the organization, financing, delivery, and outcomes of alcohol, drug abuse, and mental health services. He currently is a member of the Editorial Board of the "American Journal of Public Health." Dr. Levin is Senior Editor for the following texts: 1) "Mental Health Services: A Public Health Perspective, 2nd Edition" (Oxford University Press, 2004); 2) "Women’s Mental Health Services: A Public Health Perspective" (Sage Publications, 1998); and 3) "Mental Health Services: A Public Health Perspective" (Oxford University Press, 1996). He also is an Editor of the text "Building a Virtual Library" (Information Sciences Publishing, 2003). Dr. Levin's research interests include managed behavioral health care, mental health policy, graduate behavioral health education, mental health informatics, and the behavioral health aspects of bioterrorism and disaster management.
