Brief Biography
Elizabeth A. Perkins is the Health Coordinator of the USF - University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. She is currently a doctoral candidate in the Aging Studies program at the University of South Florida. Ms. Perkins is an RNMH, a registered nurse from Great Britain, who is trained specifically to care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Ms. Perkins' current work at the Florida Center for Inclusive Communities is concentrated on improving access to and quality of healthcare and on health promotion for children and adults across the lifespan with developmental disabilities. She is the President of the Gerontology Division of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and is co-convener of the Formal Interest Group on Developmental Disabilities for the Gerontological Society of America. Ms. Perkins has published in peer reviewed journals, and is a co-author of the forthcoming 5th Edition of the "Physical Changes and Aging" text book, published by Springer.
