A START aims to facilitate a response to the growing concerns by increasing the access of parents, child-serving professionals/organizations, policy makers and researchers to information regarding the issues associated with unregulated residential programs.

An Empirical Investigation of the Effectiveness of Parent Support Groups

The goal of the project is to produce innovative strategies to support parents, enhance their collaboration with their child's school and teachers, and to improve outcomes for their children. This will be accomplished through the implementation of an effective parent support program that includes weekly parent to parent connections as well as periodic educational programs providing information about community resources.

Applied Behavior Analysis Master's Program

The ABA Masters Program at USF is a two year, full time program with a course sequence and practicum approved by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board. Students are admitted in the fall semester based on their academic record and experience/interest in applied behavior analysis.

Behavior Analysis Services Program (BASP)

Established to provide training and support to caregivers of foster children by Certified Behavior Analysts, the Behavior Analysis Services Program at USF will encompass 17 counties in 7 Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Districts. Staff will recruit, hire and supervise behavior analysts in each of the assigned districts, and will build a network of supports to promote positive and effective interactions for caregivers and child victims of abuse, neglect, or abandonment.

Big Sky-Bridging Information Gaps in Services for Kids and Youth: A Study of Mental Health Care for Children and Youth in the Florida Child Welfare System

The purpose of this study is to help Florida identify strategies to improve the mental health care of children in the Child Welfare system. The study will seek to identify the complex combination of individual, family, and systems-level factors and circumstances that impact the medications, and services that children in the child welfare system receive.

Center for Autism and Related Disabilities CARD-USF

The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD-USF) at the University of South Florida is a community-based project that provides information and consultation to individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and related disabilities. CARD at USF is one of six regional CARD sites funded by the Florida State Legislature and offers instruction and coaching to families and professionals through a training and assistance model.
