Tee it up "Fore" CARD at the CrossRoads Community UMC Golf Classic on Saturday, August 25th

The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) at the University of South Florida has been selected as a beneficiary of the CrossRoads Community United Methodist Church’s 7th Annual Golf Classic, to be held on Saturday, August 25th at Plantation Palms Golf Club in Land O’Lakes. Proceeds will benefit special activities that support individuals with autism and related disabilities and their families.

“We are grateful that CrossRoads has teamed up with us,” said Dr. Karen Berkman, CARD-USF Director. “Showing support in this way provides another vehicle to spread awareness and helps us continue toward our goal of optimizing the potential of people with autism and related disabilities.”

As one of seven regional, university-based CARD centers in Florida, CARD-USF offers instruction and coaching to families and professionals through training and assistance.

"So many families are touched by autism, including ours,” said Greg and Faith Hopkins, Golf Classic committee members, “and we really wanted the proceeds from our golf tournament to go to an organization that is making a difference in our local community each day by supporting these families.”

A number of special activities have been scheduled during the Golf Classic. Tijuana Flats will be on site to offer lunch for the players. There will be a number of prizes including a 3day/2night stay at a choice of Wyndham Hotels across the U.S., a Callaway White Hot Putter and promotional items such as visors, mugs and cooler bags.

Sponsorship opportunities are available but are certain to fill up fast. Several sponsors participating include Wilson Miller, Gecko Media, Flagship Land Group, Dr. Eugene Hiben and Florida Executive Realty.
