The
System of Accountability Project For Children's Mental Health
The System Accountability Project for Children's Mental Health at the University of South Florida focused on promoting the use of measurable outcomes by mental health providers. Researchers with the System Accountability Project investigated how information about outcomes impacts service planning and delivery. The goal of the project was to promote the best practices currently available that track measurable outcomes as a means to improve service delivery.
The System Accountability Project was multi faceted and involved several independent activities throughout the country. These projects and products are highlighted in the following documents. The various products include:
- The Ecology of Outcomes a model for building systems of outcome accountability. This model provides a framework for building the contents of an outcome information system that is sustainable and enhances utilization of the results.
- Michigan Outcome Identification Project highlights Michigan's efforts to identify the state's priority populations, the most important outcomes that should be achieved for these populations, and the system/program level changes necessary to achieve the outcomes for children's mental health.
- Local Processes of Outcome Evaluation, a report focused on the conceptualization and implementation of outcome based information systems at the twenty two Center for Mental Health Services sites.
- Challenges, Issues, and Values in the Emerging Field of Outcomes in Children's 'Mental Health, a summary of a dinner discussion held at the 9th Annual Research Conference held in Tampa in February 1996.
